About Lago Martiánez
Lago Martiánez is a large saltwater swimming pool complex designed by César Manrique and is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island.
The complex consists of a series of interconnected swimming pools, surrounded by a large sunbathing area and beautiful gardens. The pools are filled with saltwater, which is pumped in directly from the sea, and are designed to mimic natural rock formations and lagoons. The largest pool, known as the Lake, is surrounded by palm trees and waterfalls, and is the centerpiece of the complex.
In addition to the swimming pools, Lago Martiánez also features several restaurants, bars, and shops. Visitors can enjoy a variety of refreshments and snacks while lounging by the pool or exploring the gardens.
One of the most unique features of Lago Martiánez is its design. César Manrique was known for his use of natural materials and his ability to seamlessly integrate his creations into their surrounding environment. At Lago Martiánez, he used volcanic rock, water, and vegetation to create a stunning and harmonious space that blends in with the natural landscape of Puerto de la Cruz.
